CallChange for Psion Series 3a & 3c
This program is intended for bell ringers who want to experiment with
different patterns for call changes. It can be used by learners who want to
try out their ideas as a dry run outside the tower.
Setting up
Unpacking the zip file should have given you:
- CallChan.opo - The program file
- CallChan.wrd - This file in Word format
- CallChan.txt - This file in plain text format
- CallChan.htm - This file in HTML format
Instal CallChange by putting CallChan.opo in the \opo\ directory, and run it
by selecting it from under the RunOPL icon on the system screen.
Use
You are first prompted for the number of bells you want in your ring. 12 is
the maximum at the moment. Whatever you chose, the machine will assume that
you are ringing on the back bells, meaning that if you choose 6, you will get
a back 6 pattern (EDCBAG) rather than a front 6 pattern (GF#EDCB). You can
also at this stage turn the sound off.
To start with, you hear rounds, and can begin to call the changes. You can
call your change up or down, it makes no difference. The machine will work
out the new order and, if your sound toggle is on, will ring the new sequence.
You are also given other options. You can toggle the sound on or off; you can
select a different number of bells in your ring; and you can prompt the
machine to ring the current pattern again. Press Escape at any time to stop
the program.
