YTZ version 1.11 - Psion 3a - Freeware
-------------------------------------

Overview
--------

YTZ is based on a certain popular dice game with a similar name...
YTZ can play both standard (or "classic") and triple versions of the game.

This release of YTZ is freeware: it's fully functional and costs nothing.
Enjoy it!

Installation
------------

The YTZ111.ZIP distribution file should contain the following two files:

        Name: Copy to: Description:

        YTZ.OPA \APP Main program
        YTZ.TXT - This information file

To install, copy YTZ.OPA to any \APP directory (in any drive). Then use
the "Install" option (in the System screen Apps menu) to add the YTZ icon
to your Psion.

NOTE TO USERS OF YTZ v1.0: The \APP\YTZ subdirectory and YTZ.GFX file are
no longer required and can be deleted.

Note that, when run, YTZ will create two small files in the \OPD directory:
YTZ.DAT (high score table) and YTZ.INI (game options).

How To Play
-----------

The in-game help screens explain the rules and scoring. Here's a quick summary.

The aim of YTZ is to roll 5 dice a number of times to achieve the best possible
dice combinations (or "hands") and build up the highest possible score.

A game comprises 13 rounds (standard game) or 39 rounds (triple game). In each
round the 5 dice are rolled up to 3 times. For the first roll all 5 dice are
rolled (done automatically by the Psion). For the second and third rolls any of
the dice may be held.

At the end of each round your hand is scored. There are 13 different types of
hand; however, each type of hand can be used only once per game (or three times
in a triple game). The scoreboard is divided up into 13 rows, corresponding
to the 13 possible hands: you choose where to place each score, and your score
is calculated accordingly (its easier to play than to explain!).

The scoreboard is divided into two sections, Upper and Lower.

The Upper section contains 6 types of hand:

1's - Score the total of all dice showing 1
2's - Score the total of all dice showing 2
3's - Score the total of all dice showing 3
4's - Score the total of all dice showing 4
5's - Score the total of all dice showing 5
6's - Score the total of all dice showing 6

If the subtotal of the Upper section is 63 or more you get a bonus of 35 points.

The Lower section contains 7 types of hand:

Chance - Any combination of dice - Score the total of ALL dice
3 of a kind - At least 3 of the same dice - Score the total of ALL dice
4 of a kind - At least 4 of the same dice - Score the total of ALL dice
    Full House - 3 of a kind + 2 of a kind - Score 25 points
    Low Straight - A sequence of 4 dice - Score 30 points
    High Straight - A sequence of 5 dice - Score 40 points
    YTZ - 5 of a kind - Score 50 points

In the Standard game each of the 13 scoreboard categories can be used only once,
so the game ends after 13 rounds (when the scoreboard is full). In the Triple
game, however, the scoreboard contains 3 columns so each category can be used 3
times - hence a Triple game will last for 39 rounds. When calculating the total
score in a Triple game, the total from the first column is multiplied by 1, the
total from the second is multiplied by 2, and the total from the third is
multiplied by 3.
